The short version
- You can delete your account in the app, or by email if you no longer have the app.
- Your account and everything linked to it is deleted within 30 days.
- Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription. Cancel that with Apple or Google.
Delete your account in the app
- Open GistWise and sign in.
- Tap Profile, then the settings (gear) button.
- Tap Delete account and confirm.
Delete your account without the app
Email privacy@gistwise.ai with the subject Delete my GistWise account, from the email address you use for GistWise. If you signed in with Apple and chose "Hide my email", tell us the relay address shown in your Apple ID settings (Sign in with Apple → GistWise).
To protect your account, we may ask you to confirm the request from that address. We will reply when your account has been deleted.
What is deleted
- Your account: email address, name and sign-in methods.
- Your profile, chosen topics and app settings.
- Your saved Gists, listening history, streaks and quiz results.
- Messages you sent us through the app, other than those we must keep (below).
What is kept, and for how long
- We delete or de-identify your personal information within 30 days of your request.
- We may keep limited information longer only where the law requires it or to resolve disputes, prevent fraud and keep the service secure, and only for as long as that need lasts.
- Backups are overwritten on a regular schedule, so deleted data leaves them over time.
- Totals that cannot identify you (for example how many times a Gist was played) are not deleted.
- Purchase records are kept by Apple or Google under their own policies.

Your subscription
Subscriptions are billed by Apple or Google, so deleting your GistWise account does not stop them. Cancel first: on iPhone, Settings → your name → Subscriptions; on Android, Google Play → profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
